To mark its first birthday – the traditional paper anniversary – •nook• is celebrating in style with a major exhibition and series of events, all themed around the endlessly inspiring material: paper.
The exhibition, simply titled PAPER, brings together work by 60 artists and makers from across the UK. Highlights include extraordinary creations by Jennifer Collier, Clare Pentlow, Sam Pierpoint, and contributions from local legends Joe Lycett and Tat Vision. The show also features an exciting selection of artists and makers chosen through an open call.
The theme has been interpreted in diverse and surprising ways – from playful and beautiful to conceptual and thought-provoking.
What to expect: Visitors will encounter work that explores, uses, or is inspired by paper in imaginative and thoughtful ways. This includes paper as material, subject, process, concept, or tradition. From contemporary craft to fine art, the exhibition showcases a wide spectrum of creative practices, all responding to the deceptively simple theme of Paper.
As part of the exhibition, •nook• will host a series of paper-themed workshops and a performance by a paper puppet theatre, offering opportunities for audiences to get hands-on and inspired.
Located in Kings Heath, Birmingham, •nook• is a contemporary craft gallery and creative hub supporting both emerging and established artists and makers through exhibitions, events, and studio space.
