Birmingham-based Three Local Charities Lottery has announced that Mark Hopton MBE has stepped down from his roles on the Three Local Charities Lottery Board of Directors and at Acorns Children’s Hospice, marking the end of an excellent 10-year tenure.
Three Local Charities Lottery is an independent joint lottery that equally supports Acorns Children’s Hospice, Birmingham Hospice and Focus Birmingham, helping fund their work within local communities through long-term charitable projects and initiatives.
Mark Hopton MBE has been an integral part of the organisation since 2013, becoming Chair in 2015. During this time, he provided steady leadership and clear direction, strengthening governance and helping shape the organisation’s long-term strategy.
This work ensured that Three Local Charities Lottery remained focused on its role as a local lottery, raising funds for three local charities across Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
His contribution has also been instrumental in guiding the organisation through periods of growth and change, and he leaves behind a strong legacy built on shared values and partnerships.
Following Mark’s departure, Julie Ward has been appointed as the new Chair of Three Local Charities Lottery.
A valued Director since 2016 and a Trustee of Birmingham Hospice since 2021, Julie brings extensive experience, dedication, and a strong commitment to continuing the lottery’s important work.
Having worked closely with Mark and the Board over several years, she will build on the strong foundations established under his leadership as the organisation moves into its next chapter.
Julie Ward, Chairperson of Three Local Charities Lottery said:
“Mark is certainly going to be a hard act to follow, but I look forward to taking on this leadership role and new challenge. Building on our charity partnership to grow awareness and funding for the Charities through the Lottery income.”
Three Local Charities extends its sincere thanks to Mark for his dedication, leadership, and lasting contribution, and wishes him every success in the future.
