Birmingham to Host Free Immersive Art Installation Exploring Life with Asthma

In spring 2025, women from Birmingham – whose lives are affected by asthma – came together with researchers from Imperial College London, artists and members of the public to share their experiences of asthma through textile crafting workshops.

Similar workshops happened in London and Skelmersdale with other women also affected by asthma, either directly or as carers. They too exchanged their stories about asthma and its impact on their lives, producing textile crafts to express their experiences.

All the incredible stories and beautiful crafting that emerged from the workshops inspired a large-scale creative installation called β€˜Stories of Breath’. This powerful immersive experience will be coming to The Library of Birmingham on Saturday 27 September and is open to everyone over the age of seven (children with an adult) to explore for free.
