£1m Birmingham Pub Revamp Creates 11 City Centre Jobs
A Birmingham city centre pub has reopened following a £1 million investment that has created 11 new jobs and brought a previously unused floor back into operation.
The former Windsor pub on New Street reopened as O’Neill’s on Saturday, 18 July, after a major refurbishment by Birmingham-headquartered hospitality group Mitchells & Butlers.
More than 200 people applied for roles at the venue, with 11 new team members recruited ahead of the opening.
The investment included a complete redesign of the pub and the restoration of its second floor, which had not traded for several years.
The upper level now features a mezzanine-style layout overlooking the main bar, a dedicated live music stage and additional space for events, entertainment and televised sport.
Multiple large screens have been installed across both floors, alongside four electronic Arrowsmiths dartboards.
Three dartboards are located upstairs, while the ground floor features what the company says is Birmingham’s first accessible Arrowsmiths oche.
Marianne Malthouse, general manager at O’Neill’s New Street, said: “We are very proud to be opening the doors to the brand-new O’Neill’s New Street.
“Watching the transformation unfold has been incredible, and we are excited to welcome both returning and new guests.”
The venue will host live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as well as live sport and other events.
Its food menu includes burgers, loaded waffle fries and rice bowls, alongside a wider selection of drinks.
The reopening represents a significant investment in one of Birmingham’s busiest city centre streets and returns a previously underused part of the building to active use.
