Books2Door Partners with World Book Day to Deliver Free Books to Children

Published:

The UK’s biggest independent online book retailer, Books2Door, has teamed up with World Book Day to enable children across the UK&I to use their World Book Day £1/€1.50 book token to choose their 2025 title with no delivery costs, between Tuesday, 18th February – Sunday, 23rd March 2025.

This year, Books2Door is collaborating with charity World Book Day to help children who don’t have access to physical bookstores to redeem the £1/€1.50 World Book Day tokens for a free £1 World Book Day book of their choice.

Once redeemed online, each customer will receive their chosen book, and what’s more, Books2Door have pledged to make the books completely FREE by freezing delivery charges on all World Book Day titles.

Founder of Books2Door, Abdul Thadha, explains:

“Parents are time poor – and we get it. I’m guilty of this myself as a father of two. We know our demographic, and understand that sometimes, parents can’t participate because maybe they have more than one job, or other commitments that make it tricky to get to a store. But these parents absolutely want to participate in World Book Day.

We’re here to make things a little easier. We’re honoured to be part of this pivotal moment in the book industry where, for the first-time ever, World Book Day tokens will be available to redeem on our website so families can receive their book easily in the post.”

The synergy continues as both the charity and online book retailer have worked tirelessly over the years to make books accessible.”

Chief Executive of World Book Day Cassie Chadderton said:

“World Book Day champions the fun of reading because it seriously improves lives; it’s the single biggest indicator that a child will grow up to enjoy a happier and more successful life – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational backgrounds or their income

Reading for fun is at an all-time low, which means millions of children are missing out on the benefits it brings. We believe children are more likely to read if they enjoy it, so we’re on a mission to encourage them to see reading as an entertaining, social and fun thing to do. We want more children to grow up with a life-long, life-changing habit of reading for fun and are thrilled to be partnering with Books2Door to make this a reality for more children across the UK and Ireland, through giving children access to the £1 World Book Day books through the website.”

Books2door joins independent bookshops across the UK, The Works and all the major supermarkets among many others to ensure all children can have access £1 World Book Day books. The promotion online will be from Tuesday, 18th February to Sunday, 23rd of March.
